This annual competition is open to all St Chad’s and St John’s undergraduates and postgraduates. We encourage you to enter a photo that celebrates, reflects or reveals everyday life, study and work in St Chad’s and/or St John’s.
Your photo should tell a story and the judging panel will consider the photo’s impact and memorability, creativity, imagination and composition. Technical excellence such as exposure, sharpness, colour and contrast will also be considered alongside how well the photo conveys mood and emotion.
Thanks to the generosity of Richard Roberts, St John’s Alumnus and St Chad’s SCR member, there will be a total of £1000 worth of prizes for individual students from each College. Prizes will be awarded as follows – Best photo £400, 2nd prize £300, 3rd prize £200 and 4th prize £100.
There will also be an award of £750 to the JCR of the College producing best overall ‘team’ score & the Richard Roberts award for ‘the picture that made him smile the most’ of £250.
Guidelines:
- All entries must be original and produced by the person submitting them. No images prior to the beginning of the 2025/26 academic year
- Images should be accompanied by a caption and date taken
- Images can be in a portrait or landscape format, jpeg or png
- Images must be 300 dpi, minimum image size 25000 pixels or 5 megapixels
- Maximum 3 entries by any one student
- By submitting an entry, you confirm your consent for the Colleges to use your work on the website, social media, printed publications and displayed in College, as decided by College
