Last weekend the College hosted members the 1904 Society for dinner. In addition to providing an opportunity to catch up with friends and contemporaries the event also allowed college staff and current student representatives to meet those who have shaped the college over the years.

The 1904 Society is made up of previous members of the MCR and JCR exectutive committees, as well as Candlemas Ball Stewards and Boat Club Captains. Recent Executive committees were particularly well represented, but a wide range of matriculation dates were covered by event attendees. Also in attendance were current and future members of the JCR and MCR Executive Committees, SCR members and a few members of the Horsfall Society, who had had lunch together earlier in the day.

In addition to dinner the event included an opportunity to explore the Cathedral’s new Open Treasure exhibition and a drinks reception. After dinner, conversations were continued in the Cassidy Quad Bar.

During dessert speeches were given by Dr Margaret Masson, providing an update on College life and hopes for the furture; and by John Swallow (Alumnus 1946-1949; JCR Exec 1948-1949) who raised a toast to Dr Masson and to the future of the college under her new leadership, also paying tribute to the late Dr Cassidy, our former Principal.

A raffle was also held to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, organised by the kitchen staff as part of their campaign on behalf of the charity.
