St Chad’s College Boat Club

St Chad’s College Boat Club (SCCBC) is the College’s rowing squad, comprising men’s and women’s crews at all levels of ability. The Club welcomes both experienced rowers and those entirely new to the sport.

Each year, complete beginners are introduced to rowing and trained to compete in intercollegiate novice competitions. In recent seasons, novice crews have achieved notable success, with the men’s squad securing victories at two regattas and the women’s squad reaching finals and semi-finals, remarkable progress for athletes who only began rowing in October.

The senior squad continues to perform strongly. Recent results include the senior women winning at Tyne Head and Hexham Regatta, and the senior men reaching the finals of several regattas and heads.

Recognised as the College’s best sports team in both 2023 and 2025, SCCBC prides itself on being inclusive, competitive, and social. The Club will be represented at Fresher’s Fair, where anyone interested in rowing or coxing can find out more. Rowers with prior experience are also encouraged to connect with the captains to continue their sport in a supportive and ambitious environment.
