As the Social Secretary, I am the head of the Social Committee, whose job it is to put on all the college SocComm events throughout the year. These include regular themed formals and bops, termly mega-formals and the infamous Chad’s Day in March! We also help Will, the VP, to arrange and run Freshers’ Week. The Chad’s social calendar is jam-packed year round and so it would be impossible to arrange all the events without the other members of the social committee!
As part of SocComm I work within a team of four other second years and Polly - the Social Sec. She does most of the organising and we work as a team to help out, pulling all the events together. My role is Secretary, so I organise meetings and take minutes, and then work with the team on each event. During Freshers’ Week we will be making sure that all the events run smoothly and are fun all round.
You will find me painting or running around trying to find something that has been lost (often the scissors). I am on the committee for social events so I will be helping Polly and our team to run the events in your Freshers’ Week and throughout the year.
During Freshers’ Week (and for the rest of the year), I'll be the one paying for all the amazing events you'll be experiencing, as well as helping to organise and come up with ideas for bops and formals.
Publicity and Sponsorship Officer
Being the publicist and sponsorship officer for the Social Committee, I will be that person who sends you lots of Facebook notifications by posting on the Chad’s Social Events page, or VOS Media. Whether it’s social media or posters around college or my voice, I’ll be making sure that you all hear about the social happenings in College. Fancy dress is strongly advised. I’m also the official College photographer, so all your best moments here at Chad’s (there will be a lot!) will be safely documented.
My role in SocComm is to set up the tech - speakers and lights for bops and microphones and amps for live music or speeches. SocComm helps with the organising, setting up and running of the social side of Freshers’ Week, helping out the Freps and Exec to make sure every-thing runs smoothly.
