About

St. Chad’s is one of the oldest and smallest colleges in Durham. Situated within a stone’s throw from Durham Cathedral – a World Heritage Site – St. Chad’s occupies a row of Georgian town houses along the North Bailey.

Being the smallest college in Durham offers the twin advantages of being part of a small supportive, historic-minded college, while being fully part of one of the larger and best universities in Britain.

In this section you’ll find the latest college news, a brief history of St. Chad’s, and profiles of the staff, tutors and fellows that help make Chad’s such a special place.

Below is a brief introduction to St Chad’s by our former Principal, Joe Cassidy, and the present Principal, Margaret Masson. While the video below is now a few years old, we hope it still captures the kind of place that we hope Chad’s is and our commitment to our College as a place of learning, growth and ambition.
