Our Brains, the Meaning Crisis, and the Need to Recover the Sacred

St Chad’s Alumni, friends and their guest are invited to join us for one of the intellectual highlights of Michaelmas Term, the annual SCR Cassidy Lecture. We are delighted to annouce that this year’s speaker is Professor Iain McGilchrist, the well-known British psychiatrist, neuroscientist and philosopher.

His major works, The Master and his Emissary and The Matter with Things link neuroscience, philosophy, literature, theology and cultural history. In the age of AI, he explores what it means to be human, and argues for the recovery of the importance of meaning, wisdom, imagination and embodied experience.
