Amelia (Tyrrell Scholar)

I owe my many thanks to you and your generosity for allowing me to be able to study and flourish in such a wonderful place. Although your college in Durham doesn’t necessarily make your university experience, St Chad’s has definitely made mine and has played a vital role in my development here at Durham. The scholarship has allowed me to live in Chad’s stress free from any financial burdens and focus entirely on my academic studies. It has also allowed me to participate in a range of sports and even allowed me to travel to Zambia as a Netball Development Officer. My time in Zambia has been invaluable, not only to my development as a coach but as a person. The reason I was able to travel for such a wonderful experience has been solely due to the financial support I have received. For this, I give my many thanks. Additionally, Durham University Netball Club has played a vital role this year. With the flexibility of my schedule, due to not being required to get a job, I have been able to play netball and umpire for my university and represent them at a high level.

My time as Candlemas Ball Head Steward has allowed me to contribute to all of the hard work it takes to make events and general life go ahead. I have been able to grow as a leader, gain confidence, and make some incredible friends who have supported me throughout the whole process. I can honestly say I am not sure what the future holds for me but if it is anything like the last year, I will be the luckiest person in the world.
Thank you again, your kindness does not go unnoticed, and I can only hope to live up to Jim Tyrrell’s kindness and passion for Chad’s.
