Sadie (Cassidy Scholar)

My first year at Durham University has been absolutely surreal, I never thought I would ever be able to attend such a prestigious place. This would not have been possible without the Cassidy Scholarship and St Chad’s alumni’s generosity.
Being from a working-class, North East background in a single parent family, university was not something I initially considered due to financial burden and perceived social expectations. However, this scholarship has allowed me to enjoy university without worrying about financial burdens and focus on my studies, relieving a lot of stress. My college’s inclusivity and peers’ kindness has made me feel right at home. I am immensely grateful, thank you.
